Brianna Kerr
Brianna Kerr is an impact nerd who started her career in international development before co-founding a coffee social enterprise (Kua) from a garage in Maroubra and a giving community (Five Bucks) from a bedroom in Brunswick. Over the last decade, working on and with a broad range of incredible organisations - big and small, local and global. Bri has learned how to meaningfully integrate impact into operations. Not as an afterthought or a marketing ploy but as a core reason for doing business. Today, she helps others do the same - through theory (leading courses at UNSW, the Centre for Social Impact and Monash Business School) and practice (consulting with Pale Blue and independently). Driven by curiosity and a love of big ideas, Bri blends entrepreneurship, pragmatism and deep connection with people in everything she does. Brianna has worked in impact for almost a decade, with experience in education in India, healthcare in Malawi and refugee and asylum seeker rights in Indonesia. In 2018, she co-founded Kua, a social enterprise specialising in Climate Positive Coffee. Bri completed a Bachelor of Arts (Development Studies) at UNSW and a Master of Human Rights as a distinguished Future Leaders Scholar at the University of Sydney. She currently consults on impact and sustainability strategy with Pale Blue, runs courses at the Centre for Social Impact at UNSW and most recently, founded Five Bucks, a giving community reimagining giving in Australia
Sunrise Sessions
Featuring: Brianna Kerr. In Australia, the number of people giving to charity has been declining for over 15 years and when compared to other countries like the UK, Canada, NZ and the US, we give way less. To reverse these trends, many are chasing major donors but what if there was another way? What if everyday Australians could lead the change through pooling small donations? Enter Five Bucks, a bold new giving movement proving that small contributions, when pooled together, can drive real impact. Founded by Brianna (Bri) Kerr, Five Bucks is redefining philanthropy in Australia - making it accessible, simple and people-powered. At Sunrise, Bri will share how she’s channelling small acts of generosity into a movement, what it takes to rally a community around a shared vision and why micro-donations could be the secret to unlocking Australia’s giving potential. If you care about impact, community or love a good underdog story, don’t miss this session.
